An Aston Martin DB5 convertible from 1965, complete with an extremely rare original factory-fitted hardtop, will be auctioned off by Historics at Brooklands at its second sale of the year on 25th September. Over two years of production, from 1963 to 1965, a mere 123 DB5 Convertibles were built and only a handful of those remain today with the steel hardtop.
This particular example is finished in a brilliant white exterior color with red hide and matching red mohair hood. The two-owner convertible has been driven for a little over 100,000 miles and has undergone two engine rebuilds, in 1975 and 1986.
Experts at the auction house estimate that the DB5 convertible will bring in between £350,000 and £450,000 (US$547,000 - $703,000), or up to 100 times more than the original retail price of the car in 1965, of £4,562.
